Client Overview

Our client is one of the world's premier multidisciplinary architectural firms for the built environment. With an international network of offices across Canada, Middle East, China and India along with an integrated and strategic approach to problem solving, the practice provides effective, economic and environmentally sensitive solutions on all of its projects. The firm's practice areas include Academic, Science & Technology, Civic, Interior Design, Healthcare, Transportation, Urban Design, Strategic Facilities Planning and Master Planning. The practice has been involved in designing many major landmark projects, nationally and internationally, in both public and private sectors.

The firm has identified a need to attract strategic-level Project Managers from within the industry to manage large-scale projects in both their Vancouver and Toronto offices. Recognized as key strategic appointments, the Project Manager will hold an integral role in the future growth and development of these offices.

Responsibilities

Working closely with Design Team Leader and Job Captain (equivalent to a Project Architect/Architectural Technician in the UK), the Project Manager will identify each of the phases, budget, resources and work plans. Project Manager will develop an overall project criteria, scope of services, detailed work plans, drawing lists, schedules, and resource (staff, technical, budget) requirements from inception through to completion including deliverables, milestones and task requirements in alignment with the firm's processes and standards. The Project Manager will plan project team utilization including the projection of work load requirements to facilitate proper allocation of firm-wide resources. He/She will lead, motivate and manage project team(s) to produce successful design and construction documentation and ensure appropriate team member utilization and growth potential.

The Project Manager will actively manage project fee budgets and costs to ensure project profitability and prepare reports as required. He/She will ensure an appropriate detailed Zoning, Development By-Law and Building Code review/analysis are prepared, distributed and filed. The Project Manager will build and manage client relationships through dedicated communication and project leadership. He/She will monitor and support on-site contract administration requirements including completion of professional responsibilities such as proper deficiency reports, required site reviews, certificates of payment, and letters of assurance. The Project Manager will make certain completion of project scope and identify any changes to client and Project Director. He/She will guarantee that competent peer reviews are conducted at project milestones. The Project Manager will lead project wrap up discussion and ensure wisdom gained on project is shared with the Project Delivery Group and the Project Team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a degree in Architecture with 10-15 years of project management experience with large, complex projects including demonstrated previous experience with some healthcare (P3 experience preferred), high security government and/or courthouse projects. The ideal candidate will have proficiency with AutoCAD, an understanding of project delivery software, and be able to utilize project management software. He/She should have exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The candidate should posses excellent organization and time management skills including the abilities to multitask and prioritize. He/She should also possess strong teamwork capabilities with the desire and capability to mentor.
