Utility client in east Texas needs a Plant Chemist with at least 10 years coal fired power plant experience. This person is responsible for maintaining the chemical balance of the operating systems in the plant – demineralizer, boiler feed water systems, wet scrubber, ash systems, effluents, maintenance chemicals, etc. – as well as checking for compliance with State and Federal environmental regulations and licenses of water quality, sewage treatment, waste oil treatment, and other plant streams and discharges. You will also direct the plant Operators who take samples and make process adjustments. You will be expected to provide emergency response support for power plant chemistry issues, create standard plant chemistry operating procedures, and develop, maintain and present training for plant laboratory personnel on all aspects of power plant chemistry. A BS in Chemistry is required, or extensive equivalent experience, along with least at 10 years of lab chemist experience related to the operation of coal fired power plants or other similar industries, including demonstrated experience with power plant water treatment, waste water treatment and chemical feed systems. You also need demonstrated experience with power plant operating parameters for the boiler, condensate, feed water and makeup water.
