Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) is an international consulting engineering company specializing in environmental engineering, wind engineering, microclimate, noise and vibration, acoustics and industrial processes. We are a firm of 350+ professional and support staff with offices in Guelph, Calgary and Vancouver as well as in the United Kingdom, India and the United States.
We are responsible for providing the wind engineering services for many landmark projects worldwide, including: the Petronas Towers, Taipei 101, Luxor Hotel and Casino and the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge to name a few. Currently, we are working on many exciting projects including the Freedom Tower in New York City and Burj Dubai which, when completed, will be the world’s tallest building.
RWDI is currently accepting applications for Architectural Technologists to work in our facility in Miramar, Florida.
The role includes but is not limited to:
*
Builds physical or electronic models and prototypes
*
Strong ability to operate and maintain a variety of shop equipment with great competency
*
Some working knowledge of digital camera and personal computer
*
Advises on and deciphers information from 2D and 3D drawing files, sketches, photos, and maps to conceive and construct models and 3D graphics
*
Participates in the planning and coordination of projects
*
Collaborates with the engineering team to problem solve modeling issues
*
Ensures the project requirements are being fulfilled through ongoing communication with the project team
*
Communicates technical information and project specifics to client or external contractor
*
Ensures that proper quality assurance documentation is completed
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
*
A high school diploma and/or college diploma in architectural or engineering technology, woodworking, millwork or related discipline
*
An aptitude for 3D conceptualization and the ability to transfer 3D skills between 3D programs
*
Proficiency in AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, preferred but not a requirement
*
Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
*
Demonstrated initiative, independent problem solving methods/capabilities
*
Proven ability to successfully meet deadlines and manage a number of projects at once
*
Detailed working knowledge and ability to operate a variety of shop equipment, and power/hand tools
*
Self motivation and experience to maintain shop equipment and tools
*
