The individual will research, organize, analyze, interpret and evaluate technical data related to new aircraft fuel systems, concepts, and complex engineering proposals.
The individual will act as the subject matter expert for the following aircraft fuel system components for both manned and unmanned aircraft
' Refueling & De-fueling
' Aerial re-fueling (including jettison)
' Ground
' Engine Feed
' Fuel Transfer
' Fuel Quantity Gaging
' Pressurization & Venting
' Fuel Inerting
' Thermal Management
The selected individual will provide technical support to existing aircraft platforms in the form of system design and failure data review. The individual will be encouraged to establish working relationships with the Fleet Support Team (FST) representatives for assigned platforms.
The selected individual will act as the point of contact and technical expert in dealing with contractors and other government activities on the technical aspect of all matters pertaining to the analysis efforts of assigned aircraft fuel system programs and is responsible for the planning and execution of complex programs related to research, development, and evaluation of US navy aircraft.
REQUIRED SKILLS
' The applicant must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college and have a minimum of five years of professional experience appropriate to the position
' Interested individuals need to demonstrate an understanding of general aircraft gas turbine engine design and performance characteristics and the relations to aircraft fuel system designs.
' In the majority of instances, the individual will be personally required to initiate and complete tasks involving the disciplines of engineering mechanics, material science, and relevant analytical techniques.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
' Ability to interpret an Operational Requirement Document (ORD), or weapon system performance based specification and develop derived primary engine interface, and sub-system integration related fuel system design requirements.
' Experience in leading project teams and other individuals supporting aircraft fuel system development, operation, maintenance, trouble-shooting and test programs.
