GE Industrial Hydro Generator Specialist/Project Manager
About the Position:
Support GE Energy Industrial in developing and execution of Hydro Generator Specialist / Project Manager role.
General:
The successful candidate will provide technical direction and field services support of hydro generator testing, repairs and rewinds to Industrial Services (IS) Hydro Services business.
Demonstrated Project Manager experience, and effective customer interface on project planning and job execution is essential.
The position requires 5 years of experience in generator service and repair.
Preference for OEM experience in the hydro generator installation, commissioning, testing & inspection services.
Responsibilities:
· Technical skills must include the ability to provide leadership and direction, of repair and rewind processes, associated with the generator stator, field and related components.
· Effective project management experience and knowledge in preparing scopes of service, cost estimates, quotations and ability to assume commercial and technical leadership responsibilities to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
· Review and interpret customer specifications for Hydro generator rewinds, including uprates and upgrade opportunities.
· Interface with Energy Services Engineering team for coordinated Parts and Engineering Packages for hydro generator service opportunities. Interface with manufacturing, sourcing and quality activities as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
· Minimum 5 years experience in hydro turbine generator installation, testing and maintenance activities.
· Proven experience in project management of hydro turbine overhauls and generator rewinds.
· Ability to lead and direct craft labor and technicians in the execution of defined contract scopes.
· Strong knowledge of generator construction including stator core and windings, mechanical components with demonstrated ability to handle a diverse workload with minimum supervision.
· Ability to analyze technical specifications, tender documents and proposals, and develop detailed design / service packages.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with complimentary organizational and project management experience. Strong problem-solving skills and inherent decision-making ability.
· Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of all programs within the GE Toolkit (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).
· Experience in managing power plant outages and overhauls will be helpful
· Willingness to travel 75-80% is a requirement.
