Job Description


We have an exciting position here at Harris Methodist Southlake. We are looking for the Right Person to fill our Coder (full time) spot! Are you that RIGHT person?

Responsible for assignments of ICD-9-CM diagnoses and procedure codes to each hospital discharge. Documents final diagnoses and procedures, coding them from the fact sheet, progress notes, or dictated discharge summary. Extracts identifying and medical information from each chart. Assigns DRG's to each patient chart and relays this information to the proper personnel.

Skills/ Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years hospital coding experience required.
Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database development are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity and innovation are required.
Must be able to perform in stressful situations. This position requires a high degree of responsibility, accountability and flexibility. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.
