Job Description


Qualified candidates will be working at a R&D facility focused on commercializing a unique process for the petroleum industry. The position is in Edgewood, NY and is available for local candidates only.



Responsibilities:

Organize and independently conduct petrochemical tests
Prepare diverse analytical samples and perform hands-on laboratory work using the appropriate methods, techniques or instrumentation (distillation, measuring bromine and iodine numbers, determination of solidification temperature, flash temperature, etc.) with limited guidance from experienced professionals
Produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
Process and analyze experimental data using standard (or non-standard) computer programs
Accurately, clearly and completely communicate the results of work, orally and/or in writing
Maintain QA/QC records of performance
Properly maintain the lab equipment and document standard operating procedures
Ensure the analytical laboratory is well stocked and resourced
Keep up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability
Comply with strict abidance to the safety and security regulations




Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor degree in a science or engineering field; well qualified candidates with a Associates degree may also be considered
Laboratory experience with petroleum or petrochemicals is a MUST
3 years experience using rheometer, GC, SimDist, and FTIR with limited guidance from experienced professionals
A solid working knowledge of, and experience with common office software and data acquisition systems for analytical instruments.
Excellent lab and recordkeeping skills including safe handling of chemicals and equipment
Ability to multi-task and creatively adapt to a start-up environment with a capacity to meet tight deadlines
Knowledge of experimental methods of petrochemical analysis
Fluent in English
