Job Description

Position: Enterprise Architect



Project: Department of Treasury, Office of the CIO (OCIO)



Project Duration: March 1, 2006 to February 28, 2011



Location: 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington DC 20006



Description of Duties and Responsibilities: This is a mid-level to senior-level position. Working on a small team, the Enterprise Architect (Architect) will build an enterprise architecture within the federal government arena. The Architect will gather business and IT system data and build EA artifacts and repository. This work entails or could entail:

§ Interviewing applications system and business owners

§ Mapping business processes

§ Mapping data and information flows

§ Capturing technologies and products

§ Recommending technical standards (Standards Profiles)

§ Developing FEA reference models (SRM, DRM, TRM, BRM, and PRM)

§ Creating Logical and Conceptual Data Models

§ Creating Node Connectivity Models

§ Capturing activity/process flows

§ Building time-based sequencing diagrams

§ Building Systems Connection Models

§ Developing Technology and System Evolution diagrams

§ Building Technology Forecasts

The Architect will also maintain (and train another team member to maintain) the EA repository.



Qualifications and Experience:



§ 3+ years experience building enterprise architectures

§ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field

§ Knowledge of FEA (and the reference models) preferred; knowledge of Zachman, TOGAF, NASCIO, DoDAF, and other EA frameworks, methods, schemas is desired

§ Knowledge of EA tools – Troux Metis or Telelogic System Architect is essential; experience using other tools are a plus (Mega, etc,)

§ Experience building EA repositories, preferably with a web-based user interface

§ Knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, etc.)

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Visio desired

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required

§ Other drawing/modeling tools experience (such as Adobe Illustrator) is desired

§ Knowledge of UML and UML tools

§ Knowledge of and experience with EA governance methods
